Continued forecast of high humidity and heat with a temperature- humidity index of 100-105 makes the situation critical in Virginia and other east coast locations.
Special attention to employees who are not acclimatized
New employees are particularly at risk
Drink 1/2 cup of water or Gateraid every 30 minutes -- even when not thirsty
Extra breaks in shade or A/C
Consider starting earlier in morning during cooler hours or reduced hours
Consecutive high heat days has a cumulative effect -- especially on employees who do not have A/C at home to recover
Alcohol & caffeine consumption makes situation worse
Extreme heat illness is a SEVERE emergency -- call 911!
